Thought to be born in Bristol, England in 1973, “Banksy” was born the son of a photocopier technician who later became obsessed with the underground Bristol aerosol graffiti scene in the 1980’s. Heavily influenced by artists Jef Aerosol, 3D from Massive attack and other members from the anarcho-punk band Crass, which maintained a graffiti stencil campaign on the London Tube System during the late 1970’s, early 1980’s.

Banksy’s work has become some of the most sought after pieces in the world. With a wish of anonymity, Banksy does not sell or market himself or his work directly. Rather leaves this in the hands of Art auctioneers, marketers, and copy cats. In 2010, Banksy was the subject of a street art documentary called, “Exit from the Gift Shop.” This movie was later nominated for an Academy Award for “Best Documentary” and is a must see for those with a passion in art & culture.
